Jewelry care
Care and maintenance of your jewelry
Our jewelry is made to last, but like everything beautiful, it needs a little care. Most of our pieces are made with 925 sterling silver , and if they are gold-plated, they have an 18k gold plating (1 or 3 microns). We also work with other materials, such as 319 steel , but we always specify it in the description of each product so that you can choose the jewelry that best suits you.
All our pieces are hypoallergenic and will not discolor your skin. Unlike other materials such as brass, sterling silver is safe and durable. However, to maintain its shine and good condition, we recommend following these simple tips:
Tips for caring for your jewelry
- Avoid contact with aggressive liquids such as perfumes, creams, alcohol or chlorinated water. Always put on jewelry as the last step after preparing your look.
- Shower and swimming pool: Pure silver jewelry can get wet without any problems. For gold-plated jewelry, it is best to avoid water to maintain the golden color for longer.
- Store each piece separately. If you leave them all together, they can get scratched. It is best to store them in a cool, dry place, such as a lined jewelry box or velvet pouch.
- Do not expose jewelry to the sun for too long. Light and heat can alter its color.
How to clean your jewelry
925 sterling silver:
- Submerge the jewelry in warm water with neutral soap for a few minutes.
- Rinse it and dry it carefully with a soft cloth.
Gold-plated sterling silver:
- Do not use water or soap. Just wipe with a soft, dry cloth to maintain its shine.
Special wipes: We have TOWN TALK POLISH microfiber chamois , one for silver and one for gold-plated silver. Remember that the chamois for silver cannot be used on gold-plated pieces , as it contains an anti-oxidant chemical component that could damage the plating.
Important information about gold plating
Gold-plated pieces are more delicate and, over time, can lose their color, especially if not properly cared for. The durability of the plating depends on several factors such as:
- Sweating
- The use of cosmetic or chemical products
- The pH of the skin
- Exposure to water or moisture
If you take care of your jewelry, it will last you a lifetime!
